Description
The New London Shelf Light sits at the mouth of the Thames River, protecting the entrance to both New London and Groton harbors. Built in 1909 its unique look was intended to visually accompany the city of New London's skyline. Tradition has long held that the Light is haunted by a ghost known as Ernie, whose existence even exists in the official log of the Light.
