Description
A young white tailed deer runs across one of the dirt roads at Homestead National Monument of America. The deer has been feeding in the prairie, the second oldest restored tall grass prairie in America but when startled has decided to run for the woods. The first Homestead founded under the 1862 Homestead Act (one of the campaign planks of Abraham Lincoln) is about 50 yards to the east (left) of the deer. Daniel Freeman was the first homesteader, and the Homestead National Monument of America recognizes the Freeman family and all Homesteaders throughout American history.
