Description
Steamboat Rock, deep within Dinosaur National Monument, towers over Echo Park and the confluence of the Green and Yampa Rivers. This arid region was visited by John Wesley Powell during his exploration of the Green River in 1869. Powell had lost an arm fighting during the American Civil War, but that did not stop him from climbing to the top of this 700 foot high prominence.
