Artist's Description
Across the American West land ownership and land use is always a complicated issue. This scene illustrates that very well. The photograph is taken from part of Dinosaur National Monument's Harper's Corner road, but the area where the gorge is and the open slope beyond that is Bureau of Land Management land, which is leased by a rancher. There is in fact a stock pond or "tank" as they are called locally in the fold of the land to the right of the cows.
