Artist's Description
The Battleship USS Texas (BB 35) sits at its moorings south of Houston Texas, as part of the San Jacinto Battlefield State Park. The Texas was a major American vessel during the first and second world wars serving in both the Atlantic and Pacific, and earning five battle stars during its active duty time. It has been a museum ship in Texas since 1948 and is now over a century old having had its construction begun in 1912. She earned two Battle Stars in the Pacific and three in the European Campaign, Her time in Texas has seen a history of maintenance issues, but considering her age this is only to be expected. With proper upkeep there is no reason this vessel can not continue her current duties for the foreseeable future.
