An Eastern Prickly Pear (Opuntia humifusa) blooms in the center of Woodbine Municipal Airport in Southern New Jersey. While most people associate cacti with the American Southwest, Eastern Prickly Pears exist along the east coast in sandy soil as far north as Connecticut.

Joshua House has been described as a photographer, a conservationist, a historian, and an adventurer. Having traveled and worked extensively across the country he is currently concentrating his photographic work in Eastern Texas, centered on Houston.
