Artist's Description

The neon sign for the Lorraine Motel where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was murdered in Memphis Tennessee. The Lorraine Motel is now part of the National Civil Rights Museum.Dr. Martin Luther King was a graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta and Boston University. He became the most widely recognized leader in the American Civil Rights Movement throughout the 1950s and 1960s, leading non-violent protests throughout the American south, at the risk of his own life. Dr. King was murdered in Memphis while there in support of striking sanitation workers. His legacy lives on as does his Dream.

Having traveled and worked extensively across the country he is currently concentrating his photographic work in Eastern Texas, centered on Houston. His past creative work has included research, writing, and photography for the Lincoln Home National Historic Site in Illinois, Homestead National Monument of America in Nebraska, and Dinosaur National Monument in Utah and Colorado.
