The western shore of Keuka Lake towers over the Village of Hammondsport and the Keuka Maid on a winter day. Vineyards and woodlots line the upper portions of the hillside, while the shoreline shelters summer cottages.

Joshua House has been described as a photographer, a conservationist, a historian, and an adventurer. Having traveled and worked extensively across the country he is currently concentrating his photographic work in Eastern Texas, centered on Houston. His past creative work has included research, writing, and photography for the Lincoln Home National Historic Site in Illinois, Homestead National Monument of America in Nebraska, and Dinosaur National Monument in Utah and Colorado. As a conservationist he has worked with the US Army Corps of Engineers, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, and the National Park Service.
