Artist's Description
As traffic backs up along Route 59 waiting to exit towards Downtown Houston, Richmond Avenue, Montrose Boulevard, or Interstate 45 a police cruiser speeds northwards towards yet another emergency with lights flashing, streaking through the night. Break lights streak as drivers slow for either the exits or the curve. Traffic also rushes westward along 59 heading home towards Victoria and closer suburbs headlights shining towards the sunset. As twilight has passed into night the number of people carpooling westwards has dropped and only a single car passes by in the HOV (high occupancy vehicle) lane. Above us all the interchanges lights shine down casting their glow over the scene. In an hour or two there will be just one or two cars in this scene, and then tomorrow morning, before the sun rises the scene will be reversed.
